Rolex GMT-Master II 16710 (1990)
In 1989, Rolex renewed the GMT-Master II line with the reference 16710, which introduced the new 3185 calibre. The most noticeable difference from the previous model was the slimmer case. This change was appreciated by many buyers, who found the case of the ‘Fat Lady’ too thick. The GMT-Master II 16710 turned out to be a huge success and remained in production for no less than 18 years, until 2007.
This vintage GMT-Master II, reference 16710 from 1990, with a red-black Coke bezel, is in beautiful condition. The case is thick, and the lugs are still sharp. But that's not all! The dial and hands of this GMT-Master II have something special that both us watch collectors really appreciate. Look at the beautiful, even beige discolouration of the Tritium - this gives the watch a warm, authentic vintage look. The Oyster bracelet shows minimal stretch for its age.
To complete the look, we add a beautiful, faded vintage Pepsi inlay to the watch. A great combination with the discoloured Tritium on the dial, making it look like you have two watches in your collection! In addition, this GMT-Master II comes with a 1-year warranty from 10-over-10.

Rolex GMT-Master
The first Rolex GMT-Master was introduced in 1954 under the reference 6542. The watch was housed in a classic steel Oyster case of 38 mm. The GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function is a useful tool for pilots and those who have traveled extensively over different continents. The ability to track local and home time was especially useful for commercial pilots. The American airline Pan America Airlines (Pan Am) approached Rolex and asked them to develop a watch for pilots. This led to the development of the 6542. The iconic red-and-blue bezel made its debut on the 6542, known to collectors as the pepsi.
In 1959 Rolex launched their second series of the GMT-Master, the reference 1675. The case had been enlarged by 2mm and has a diameter of 40mm's. This reference would run until about 1980's.
