Rolex Explorer 124270 (Full-Set / NL delivered 2023)
At 10 over 10, we have a passion for vintage watches, but sometimes we like to make an exception for models that fit perfectly into our collection. And this modern 36 mm Explorer certainly does. Looking back at a few years and references, Rolex introduced the reference 114270 in 2001, with the exact same diameter as this Explorer 124270. In 2010, Rolex stopped producing the 36 mm Explorer and replaced it with the 39 mm variant under reference 214270. In our opinion, this size is too large for the Explorer. Fortunately, in 2021, Rolex returned to their roots and marked the return to the 36 mm case size with reference 124270, bringing the Explorer back to its original case size.
The Rolex Explorer 124270 we have here dates from 2023 and was purchased by the previous owner from a Dutch Rolex retailer. The watch is in beautiful condition. The Oyster bracelet, equipped with a secure Oyster-lock clasp and an Easylink extension link, shows no stretch. This sporty, modern Explorer comes as a full set with outer box, box, papers (card), booklet, and Rolex hangtag. In addition, the watch comes with a 5-year Rolex warranty from the original purchase date shown on the Rolex card.

Rolex Explorer
The name Explorer, which dates back to 1953, says it all... exploration! Rolex was involved in various explorations until the 1930s and tested watches on Himalayan expeditions to ensure that the watches could withstand extreme temperatures and low oxygen levels. In 1953, the highlight for Rolex came when it was announced that Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary had reached the summit of Mount Everest with a Rolex watch. However, this watch did not yet have the typical Explorer features, such as the large "3-6-9" dial and the famous Mercedes hands. Nevertheless, Rolex registered the name Explorer in 1953.
