Rolex Explorer 114270 '2002'
The name Explorer, which dates back to 1953, says it all... exploration, the act of venturing into the unknown! Rolex was involved in various expeditions until the 1930s, testing watches on Himalayan expeditions to ensure they could withstand extreme temperatures and low oxygen levels. In 1953, Rolex reached a milestone when it was revealed that Tenzin Norgay and Edmund Hillary had reached the summit of Mount Everest with the Rolex Explorer. However, this watch did not yet have the characteristic features of the Explorer, such as the large 3-6-9 dial and the famous Mercedes hands. Nonetheless, Rolex registered the name Explorer in 1953.
Looking ahead to several references and years, we arrive at reference 114270, introduced in 2001 and produced until 2010. This was the very last reference of the Explorer with the refined 36mm case. This elegant yet sporty Rolex Explorer is from the year 2002. The watch is in a beautiful condition, with its thick case and sharp lugs. The 78690 Oyster bracelet shows little to no signs of stretch for its age. The movement has been fully checked by our watchmaker, and of course has also been serviced after the 2011 period. This stunning Explorer, perfect for daily wear (or climbing the Himalayas), Comes with paper, hangtag, Rolex service card (2011), wallet and 1-year mechanical warranty from 10 over 10.
