Rolex Datejust 16234
After the 160XX reference series appeared on the market in 1977, Rolex introduced the 162XX reference series 11 years later in 1988 which continued until approximately 2006. The 3035 caliber changed to the 3135 caliber and was further perfected. This caliber was Rolex's longest-used caliber. Rolex also stopped with the use of plexiglass. The 162XX Datejust series was fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Rolex stopped using tritium in the late 1990s and fitted all dials with super luminova from the year 2000.
You can say that over the years a lot of different dial variants have appeared for the Datejust. Still, the 16234's steel models were given a relatively conventional selection of dial colors to choose from, such as the traditional white, silver, rich blue, and as on this Datejust, the black dial. But it is often said: less is more!
This Datejust dates from 1996 and is in excellent condition with its sharp case, sharp bezel and jubilee strap, which is very tight for its age. The black dial makes this watch suitable for every occasion in daily life, exactly what it is intended for, for both men and women. But don't forget the dial surrounded by a ''factory diamond'' set that provides an extra charm. The watch has been fully checked by our watchmaker and comes with its original box, papers, hang tags, calendar and of course 12 months warranty by 10 over 10.
Rolex Datejust
In the year 1945 the first Datejust was introduced in honour of the 40-year existence of Rolex, under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a watertight case that also indicated the date. It even automatically transitioned the date after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a serrated bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, especially designed for the Datejust. The date was placed on the 3-hour mark. Ten years later, in 1955, the date-window was given a "cyclops lens", which magnifies the date up to two and a half times.
Rolex's most iconic models were produced to function as "tool watches". The Datejust, however, did not have a specific purpose. This model was supposed to be a classic, reliable, everyday watch, suitable for any occasion in day-to-day life.
