Rolex Datejust 16233 'Silver Diamond Dial'

After Rolex launched the 160XX reference series in 1977, the brand introduced the 162XX reference series eleven years later, in 1988. This series remained in production until around 2006. The 3035 caliber was replaced by the further refined 3135 caliber, which became the longest-used movement in Rolex history. Another significant innovation was the transition from plexiglass to scratch-resistant sapphire crystal in the 162XX Datejust series. In the late 1990s, Rolex replaced tritium with Super-Luminova, which enhanced the luminescence of all dials from 2000 onwards.

Over the years, countless dial variations have been introduced for the Datejust. However, the gold and steel models of the 16233 were offered in a relatively classic selection of colors, such as white, black, deep blue, and silver. That said, this vintage Datejust 16233 is far from ordinary: it features a silver dial with a warm, light beige patina, adorned with diamond hour markers. A true eye-catcher, if you ask us!

This stunning neo-vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 dates back to 1991 and is in exceptional condition. The case and bracelet, along with the 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, remain razor-sharp. What makes this piece particularly special is the silver diamond dial, which has developed an even creamy glow over time. The elegant Jubilee bracelet shows virtually no stretch and is almost like new. The clasp still feels tight, indicating that the bracelet has seen minimal wear.

This brilliant – or should we say sparkling – vintage Rolex Datejust 16233 with a silver diamond dial from 1991 comes with a one-year mechanical warranty from 10 out of 10.

Datejust

In the year 1945 the first Datejust was introduced in honour of the 40-year existence of Rolex, under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a watertight case that also indicated the date. It even automatically transitioned the date after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a serrated bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, especially designed for the Datejust. The date was placed on the 3-hour mark. Ten years later, in 1955, the date-window was given a "cyclops lens", which magnifies the date up to two and a half times.

Rolex's most iconic models were produced to function as "tool watches". The Datejust, however, did not have a specific purpose. This model was supposed to be a classic, reliable, everyday watch, suitable for any occasion in day-to-day life.
