Rolex Datejust 16220 Blue
The Rolex Datejust reference 16220 was introduced in the year 1989 and was in production until approximately mid-2000. Like its predecessor, the Datejust 16030, this model features a bezel that is no longer used by Rolex: the so-called engine-turned bezel. The Datejust 16220 is also the last reference with this bezel.
This neo-vintage Rolex features the 3135 calibre. The quick-set date function is the perfect compromise for those who appreciate the look of a vintage Rolex but want all the safety and convenience of modern technology. Steel Rolex watches were generally seen as fairly understated. Therefore, most variants featured the conventional range of dials such as black, white, silver, grey and blue. Like all Datejust references, the 16220 received the classic jubilee bracelet or, like on this Datejust, the sporty oyster bracelet.
This vintage Rolex Datejust 16220 dates from the year 1999. If you ask us, this is the perfect watch for everyday use. Classic, understated and sporty due to the blue dial combined with the engine turned bezel and the oyster bracelet which shows no stretch for its age! The case is razor-sharp, and the green factory sticker is still present on the back case. The 3135 movement has been serviced. Unfortunately, the box is no longer preserved, but this beautiful Rolex comes with its papers, all booklets, calendar, hangtags and 1-year mechanical warranty.

Datejust
In the year 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to commemorate Rolex's 40th anniversary under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also displayed the date and automatically changed it at midnight. The Datejust was equipped with the fluted bezel and the renowned Jubilee bracelet, which was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was indicated at the 3 o'clock position. Ten years later, in 1955, the date window was fitted with a Cyclops lens, magnifying the date up to 2.5 times.
Most iconic Rolex models were produced as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purpose. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and versatile watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
