Rolex Datejust 16013 'Silver Dial' 1986
The classic Datejust reference 16013 was introduced in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. This reference is the yellow gold/steel variant of the 16014, which is made of steel and white gold. A distinctive feature of these watches is the high plexiglass, which provides a truly vintage look. Additionally, this 5-digit reference, compared to its predecessor, has the upgraded 3035 movement with a quick-set date function. This makes the watch much more user-friendly.
There is something special about collecting vintage Rolex watches. There are many different details that distinguish one piece from another. Unique case materials, case shapes, and the aesthetics of the dial are the most prominent and noticeable features.
Characteristic of the vintage Datejust 16013 watches is that they were often equipped with a champagne dial. The vintage Datejust 16013 we have here dates from 1986 and features an original and period-correct silver dial with 18K yellow gold hour markers. This combination of gold/steel with the silver dial is rare and provides a great vintage yet modern look. The tritium on the hands and dial has nicely aged to a light beige hue. The case, along with the 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, remains sharp. The period-correct Jubilee bracelet shows some stretch but is still in decent condition. This beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust 16013 with silver dial and yellow gold hour markers comes with a 12-month warranty from 10 over 10.

Datejust
In the year 1945 the first Datejust was introduced in honour of the 40-year existence of Rolex, under the reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a watertight case that also indicated the date. It even automatically transitioned the date after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a serrated bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet, especially designed for the Datejust. The date was placed on the 3-hour mark. Ten years later, in 1955, the date-window was given a "cyclops lens", which magnifies the date up to two and a half times.
Rolex's most iconic models were produced to function as "tool watches". The Datejust, however, did not have a specific purpose. This model was supposed to be a classic, reliable, everyday watch, suitable for any occasion in day-to-day life.
