Rolex Date 15200 - 1991

Rolex's Date and Datejust models are as closely related as the names suggest and both share the same core design and functionality. The main difference with the Date is mainly in the dimension. The Datejust was originally a 36 mm watch and was later made available in a 31, 41, and 28 mm lady Datejust variant. The Date only appeared in a 34 mm.

The reference 15200 was introduced in 1988 and replaced the reference 150XX which was only in production for a few years. The 3035 caliber was upgraded to the 3135 caliber and the switch from Plexiglas to sapphire crystal was made.

In the 1990s, the race against making watches larger began. Fortunately, Rolex's design team didn't follow this trend and kept producing their signature smaller watches. The Date's smaller 34mm case is known for being the ideal sizing for both men and women.
