Tudor

Rolex was founded in 1905 by the famous German businessman Hans Wilsdorf. In 1926 Rolex introduced its first waterproof watch, the famous Oyster. In the same year founder Hans Wilsdorf had another goal: he wanted to create a watch brand that was more accessible for a larger number of people, with the same quality and reliability as Rolex. Wilsdorf assigned Geneva-based dealer Philippe Hüther to create the Tudor trademark. Rolex used high quality in-house movements. Tudor had its movements manufactured elsewhere and used ETA movements which allowed Tudor to maintain its affordability.
