Omega Constellation 168.005 'Pie-Pan Dog Leg'
The Omega Constellation is perhaps one of the most refined models in Omega's collection, offering a wide variety of versions. This model was introduced by Omega in 1952. The name refers to a constellation that moves consistently and predictably. A beautiful symbol of the reliability of the timepieces in this series.
Omega broke every precision record at the Geneva Observatory, further strengthening its connection to astronomy. This connection is also reflected in the logo of the Constellation series: an image of the Geneva Observatory, surrounded by eight stars representing Omega’s greatest chronometric achievements. This iconic logo is often found on the case back, while a single star adorns the dial.
The complete original vintage Omega Constellation 168.005 we have here dates back to approximately 1966. The watch features a stainless steel case and a stunning silver Pie-Pan dial, which creates impressive depth when viewed from different angles. The so-called baton hour markers are filled with onyx, a natural black gemstone known for its smooth, glossy finish. This combination makes the Omega Constellation an absolute eye-catcher! The plexiglass is original and bears the Omega engraving in the center. The Omega crown is also original and correct for this time period.
What makes this piece even more special is the stainless steel case with its iconic 'dog leg' lugs, which remain razor-sharp and in unpolished condition. Additionally, this vintage Omega Constellation 168.005 is fitted with a new black leather strap. The Omega 561 movement has been serviced.

Omega
La Generale Watch Company, Omega's parent company, was founded in 1848 in the Swiss city La Chaux de Fonds by 23-year-old Louis Brandt. In 1866, Brandt passed away, leaving his company in the hands of his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar. The two brothers brought many fresh, innovative ideas to the company, which led to the development of a new caliber in 1894: the famous 19-lignecaliber. This caliber was so precise, and subsequently, succesful, that the brothers decided to change their company name in 1903; the year "Omega Watch Co." was born. Since 1998, Omega is owned by the Swatch Group, under the name Omega SA.
