Rolex Datejust 16234 'Silver / Cream Diamond Dial' (1990)
After the 160XX reference series was launched in 1977, Rolex introduced the 162XX series eleven years later, in 1988, which was produced until around 2006. The 3035 caliber was replaced and refined by the 3135 caliber, which became the longest-used movement by Rolex. Rolex also stopped using plexiglass; the 162XX Datejust series was now equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire glass. In the late 1990s, Rolex moved away from tritium, and starting in 2000, all dials were equipped with Super-Luminova.
Over the years, a wide range of dial variants for the Datejust has emerged. Nevertheless, the steel models of the 16234 generally had a fairly conventional selection of dial colors, such as classic white, black, deep blue, and silver. Notably, this vintage Datejust 16234 is not equipped with a standard silver dial, but with a stunning silver dial set with diamonds.
This Rolex Datejust 16234 dates from the year 1990 and is still in beautiful condition. The case and the 18K white gold fluted bezel are still nice and sharp together. One thing that makes us very happy is the silver diamond dial, which, along with the hands, has beautifully aged to a warm cream-colored glow. The elegant period-correct Jubilee bracelet shows acceptable stretch for its age. The automatic 3135 movement was serviced about two years ago by our watchmaker, has recently been fully checked, and is still running very accurately!
This beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust 16234 from 1990, with a silver diamond dial, comes with a one-year warranty of 10 over 10.

Datejust
In the year 1945, the first Datejust was introduced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex under reference 4467. This was the first self-winding watch with a waterproof case that also indicated the date and automatically changed after midnight. The Datejust was equipped with a fluted bezel and the famous Jubilee bracelet that was specially designed for the Datejust. The date was displayed at the 3 o'clock position. 10 years later, in 1955, the date window was equipped with a cyclops lens that magnified the date by up to 2.5 times.
Most iconic Rolex models were produced to be used as tool watches. However, the Datejust had no specific purposes. This model was meant to be a classic, reliable, and everyday watch suitable for any occasion in daily life.
