Rolex GMT-Master II 16713 from 1991

The Rolex GMT-Master with dual time zone has a long, rich and well-documented history. In the 1950s, the first Rolex GMT-Master was introduced.

The GMT function (Greenwich Mean Time) was a useful tool for pilots and for those who travelled a lot on different continents. The possibility to follow local and home time was especially useful for commercial pilots. The American airline Pan America Airlines (Pan Am) approached Rolex and asked them to develop a watch for pilots.

In the year 1982, the GMT-Master II was introduced and offered exclusively in steel in combination with the black bezel and the ''coke'' bezel. Only in 1989, when Rolex renewed the GMT-Master II with the 3185 calibre, the two-tone Rolex GMT-Master II was introduced, which was produced in steel combined with gold. From this, the reference 16713 was born. The Rolex GMT-Master II reference 16713 was equipped with a brown and gold ''Root Beer'' bezel or like on this beautiful 16713, the all-black bezel.

Until the end of the 90's the dial and hands like on this GMT were still equipped with tritium which gives a beautiful beige patina. During the entire production period of the GMT-Master II 16713, the watch was available on the sporty gold-steel oyster strap, or as on this watch, a gold-steel jubilee strap for the chic and elegant look.

This vintage GMT-Master II is in beautiful vintage condition with its sharp unpolished case. A piece of the original green factory sticker has also been preserved on the back cover. The original matching Jubilee strap with the 50 stamp shows a slight acceptable stretch for its age and is in excellent condition. The watch has been fully checked by our watchmaker and comes with its original papers, box, outerbox, Rolex warranty booklet and 12 months warranty by 10 over 10.
